Abstract:The main plot of “The Faithful Friend” tells the story of little Hans and the Miller. It was originally a story with moral lessons, but the most obvious meaning in the content was deconstructed by the form of the story, which even led to completely opposite effect. The intention of moral education is deconstructed from two levels of story and discourse by means of paradox, inconsistency and uncertainty. The ambiguity of intention or even the lack of intention leaves the text with nothing but pure formal pleasure, which greatly demonstrates the supremacy of form in aestheticism.
