The “Sweet Potato Economy” is a “two-end out” high growth model formed by the innovativemarket and resources in Zhejiang.The proposal of “Sweet Potato Economy” is based on important global, national,and provincial conditions, which is an inevitable choice to respond to the opportunities and challenges of economicglobalization, and an essential need to expand the space for opening up to the outside world, implement the strategy ofthe scientific development concept, transform the new development concept, solve the problems of transformation andupgrading in Zhejiang, and give full play to the advantages of institutional mechanisms. The “Sweet Potato Economy”is an important part of the “Double Eight Strategy” and also an important theory for forming a uniqu “Wenzhou Model”,greatly expanding the space for social and economic development in Wenzhou. Wenzhou’s “Sweet Potato Economy”has achieved a leapfrog development from“passive” opening up to“active” opening up, from “nothing to something,from having to having more, from having more to being good”, forming a global industrial chain that connects local andforeign markets.
