As for the birthplace of Yongjia Master Xuanjue, there are three records in the past dynasties: "Yongjia (Wenzhou) people", "Yongjia County people" and "Rui"an people, who live in Fanyou in mountains (villages)". In the contemporary era, with the disclosure of the information about the Wenzhou lineage branch of Dai"s genealogy, there appeared the argument that Xuanjue might have been born in Xiachuan Village, Ouhai District, Anrenfang or Jiuquxiang, Lucheng District. The former two were obviously false rumors, while the latter was based on speculation of fragmentary information and lack of evidence. However, based on the historical evolution of Yongjia"s place name, the general annals, local chronicles, steles and Buddhist works of the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as the historical materials of Xuanjue"s sister Xuanji, it can be concluded that Xuanjue"s ancestral lineage is likely to belong to the Dai family in Jiuqu Lane of Lucheng from the perspective of time, and Xuanjue"s native place should be the Sailing Hometown of Angu County (today"s Rui"an City).
